MBBS Course duration

  • Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of Surgery is a five- and half–year course.
  • The course involves four and a half -year of classroom study followed by a year of rotating internship.
  • The classroom study is broken into three phases of 18 months each. The period of 18 months is called Professional and each profession is divided into three semesters.
  • There is a semester exam at the end of each semester and a Professional exam at the end of each Professional.

First year of MBBS:

  • This is a pre-clinical course lasting for a year and the course subjects are the following:
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Introduction to community medicine.

The next second and half year of MBBS:

  • The second MBBS covers subjects such as pathology, pharmacology, microbiology and forensic medicine and lasts for one and a half years.
